Laser hair removal is an ideal long-term solution for unwanted body hair. It permanently reduces hair growth, leaving you with smooth and healthy skin with a natural glow.
For the best and most comfortable treatment, it is important that you prepare your skin correctly. This way, you can get the best results from your laser hair removal.
Skin Preparation
Sunbeds and Sunbathing
Avoid tanning! Sunbathing or using sunbeds can increase skin sensitivity, putting you at a higher risk of burning during your treatment. Any prolonged exposure to UVA and UVB rays can harm your skin and potentially leave you sunburnt. We highly recommended that you wait until your skin has healed before undergoing any laser treatments.

Fake Tanning
Did you know that fake tan can also affect the results of your laser hair removal? You can continue to wear fake tan; however, your skin must be completely clear on the day of your treatment. Otherwise, this can cause complications and reduce the reliability of your treatment.
Shaving
When preparing for your treatment its recommended that you keep your unwanted hair short; longer hairs are more susceptible to singeing which can burn your skin and make your treatment more painful.
Avoid waxing and plucking! These treatments work by removing hair from the root, which impacts the hair growth cycle. Since laser treatment penetrates the root to target the hair follicles, it can impact the overall quality of your results.
If you have waxed or plucked, we recommend waiting 4-6 weeks before your laser sessions.
Tattoos
The Soprano ICE laser is compatible for all skin types including those with tattoos. No matter the hair texture, type or colour; our practitioners are fully trained to safely and effectively treat your skin. If you have tattoos let us know beforehand, so we can tailor your treatment to get the best results for you. Find out more about laser hair removal with tattoos.
Skin Preparation Tips
- Reducing UV exposure can help prevent the risk of burning, hyper-pigmentation and scarring.
- Try to avoid caffeine before your appointment as it can increase your skins sensitivity.
- Remember to wear SPF before and after treatments, especially on the treated areas. We recommend wearing an SPF 30 and above.
- Wear loose clothing to prevent irritation afterwards (cotton preferred).
